SPI/FILMBOX acquires Kenyan series NEW BEGINNINGS for FILMBOX Africa movie channel

Global TV operator SPI International / FILMBOX has recently acquired worldwide rights to the popular Kenyan drama series “New Beginnings” which will soon air on the SPI’s FilmBox Africa movie channel across the continent.

SPI International / FILMBOX Channels Group has signed an agreement with Insignia Productions acquiring rights to fifty two episodes of “New Beginnings”, a weekly drama about a three-way love affair between Julia, Derek and his best friend Sean. The show explores their lives and relationships from the point Sean wakes up from a five-year coma.

“New Beginnings” series is one of the first major acquisition deals which SPI has been working on in order to add African productions to the diverse programming offer on FilmBox Africa channel. “SPI/FILMBOX is fully committed to Africa with content,” said Amit Karni, SPI’s Head of Distribution for Africa. “We are negotiating new acquisitions with a number of regional content suppliers and we look forward to announcing more content deals over the coming months," Mr. Karni adds.
